Meet the Horses
Tilly has lived many lives throughout her 20 years, but she is finally home. While much of her history is unknown, we do know she once spent her younger years as a barrel racing horse, has raised foals, and carries the physical scars and wear of a hard-working past.
When Danielle brought Tilly to Todd Acres, she had been turned out in a large, lush retirement pasture by well-meaning owners unfamiliar with the special needs of horses. Unfortunately, the rich grass caused her to founder, beginning an ongoing journey of carefully managing her hoof health and comfort. Through attentive care, balance, and patience, Tilly continues to thrive barefoot and comfortably in her new life.
Tilly is one of the most emotionally sensitive and intuitive horses at the farm. When she chooses to connect with someone, it creates a truly special bond. Her fast-paced competition days are behind her now, and instead she spends her time helping create gentle, meaningful experiences for others — often giving children their very first horse ride as our full-size “unicorn.”
She especially loves liberty work and has a remarkable ability to connect with her human partners through trust and communication. There is simply something special about Tilly — not only with people, but with other horses as well. Nearly every horse who has come through Todd Acres has been naturally drawn to her calm and grounding presence.
HV Daydream Duchess, “Duchess”
Duchess is a beautiful perlino Foundation Quarter Horse with a story that feels meant to be. After extensive research searching for the right horse, Danielle came across photos of Duchess shortly after she was born and immediately felt a deep connection to her. From that moment on, it was clear she was destined to become part of the family.
A kind woman who helped care for the foals at the breeding farm stayed in touch over the following months, sending updates, photos, and videos as Duchess grew. When she ready to come home at seven months old, the Todd family made the 15-hour round trip to bring her to Todd Acres.
Dewey quickly became Duchess’s first friend, and over time, Duchess and Danielle formed an unbreakable bond. Playful, expressive, and incredibly intelligent, Duchess has become Danielle’s true “heart horse.”
Now four years old, Duchess continues to grow into an exceptional partner with both beauty and personality to match. She is planned to be bred to Cloud 9 in hopes of welcoming an extraordinary future “unicorn” foal into the herd.
A Graceful Gambit, “Gracie”
Gracie is a 27-year-old Gypsy Vanner with a calm presence and a gentle heart. While much of her early history is unknown, she spent several years working as a therapeutic riding horse before coming to Todd Acres.
These days, Gracie enjoys a slower pace of life filled with daily grooming, attention, and time with her friends. Though mostly retired, she still spends 1–2 days each week helping introduce young riders to the basics of horsemanship and building confidence through groundwork and connection-based activities.
Patient, steady, and kind, Gracie continues to make an impact simply by being herself.
Diamond
Diamond is a beautiful little pony who spent much of her early life being passed from trainer to trainer as a “flipper pony,” with people focused more on quick results than building trust and understanding. Too many things were pushed onto her instead of taught with patience and partnership, leaving her highly sensitive and unsure of people.
Even after spending the last couple years at Todd Acres, Diamond still requires consistent and thoughtful handling — but she has made incredible progress through relationship-based horsemanship. While she is capable of being ridden, Diamond has made it clear that she feels happiest and most confident doing groundwork, learning tricks, and connecting with people at her own pace.
Despite her past, Diamond has remained curious, willing, and sweet. She especially enjoys grooming sessions and has formed wonderful connections with many of the children at the farm. Watching her slowly rebuild confidence and trust has been a meaningful reminder of how much healing can happen through patience, consistency, and kindness.
Luka
Luka is a Morgan horse with a background in eventing and a long history with the person who bred and raised him — AJ, our Animal Wellness Director. Now 24 years old, Luka has transitioned from his athletic years into a steady and dependable lesson horse who has helped teach countless beginner riders.
Patient, kind, and tolerant, Luka has become a favorite among many of the children who come to Todd Acres. He has a calm confidence that helps new riders feel safe and supported while they learn the basics of horsemanship and riding.
These days, Luka enjoys a balanced life of lessons, attention from his many young fans, and plenty of TLC from all the people who love him.
Soraya
Soraya is a beautiful palomino Quarter Horse lovingly owned by our neighbors, Erin and her daughter, Ruby. Friendly, athletic, and full of personality, Soraya enjoys spending her days out on the trails, running through the pasture, and relaxing with her best friend, Duchess.
Ruby and Soraya are growing up together, building the kind of partnership that comes from years of shared experiences, learning, and trust. We are grateful to have Soraya as part of the extended Todd Acres herd and love watching the bond between horse and rider continue to grow.
Finley
Finley is a Quarter Horse lovingly owned by Denise, the mother of our Director of Community Care & Family Engagement, Allie.
Gentle, easygoing, and friendly with everyone he meets, Finley has a calm and dependable personality that makes him a wonderful part of the herd.
He enjoys attention from people of all ages and gets along well with both horses and humans alike. Whether he’s relaxing in the pasture or visiting with guests, Finley’s sweet nature makes him easy to love.
Sabi
Sabi is a sweet miniature horse owned by AJ, our Animal Wellness Director. Over the years, Sabi has traveled to shows with AJ, competing in driving classes and earning many awards along the way. The two share a strong partnership and continue exploring new training activities together as Sabi begins preparing for a future role as an outreach ambassador horse.
Recently, Sabi has joined her pony friends in helping teach young children beginning horsemanship skills. She spends her days with her little pony herd, soaking up attention from visitors and quickly becoming a favorite among the kids who meet her. Gentle, expressive, and full of personality, Sabi brings a lot of joy to the farm.
Cedar Creek Cloud 9, “Cloud”
Cloud is a rare cremello roan Gypsy Vanner stallion with breathtaking movement, a gentle soul, and the kind of presence that turns heads wherever he goes. Beyond his beauty, Cloud is known for his incredible temperament and the stunning foals he has produced.
A few years ago, Cloud’s life took a heartbreaking turn when his owner fell on difficult times and he was left behind at a training facility, where he suffered neglect and mistreatment. When his previous owner at Cedar Creek Gypsies learned what had happened, they stepped in immediately to rescue him and help him begin healing.
After recovering physically, Cloud found his way to Todd Acres, where Danielle and her family welcomed him with patience, kindness, and love. Today, Cloud is not only thriving, but helping inspire wonder, connection, and compassion for everyone who meets him.
Dewdrop, ‘Dewey”
Dewdrop, better known as “Dewey,” is the miniature horse who inspired the vision behind The Unicorn Initiative. With his calm nature, unique appearance, and patient personality, Dewey has become a favorite among children and adults alike.
Over the years, Dewey has helped create meaningful moments for countless families through farm visits, community events, outreach programs, and special experiences designed to bring comfort, connection, and joy. His gentle temperament makes him especially well-suited for children who may be shy, anxious, overwhelmed, or simply in need of a reason to smile.
As one of our primary outreach ambassadors, Dewey helps represent the heart of our mission: creating opportunities for people to experience the positive impact animals can have on emotional well-being, compassion, and human connection.
Stardust Legacy, “Star”
Stardust Legacy, affectionately known as “Star,” was born during the peak of the Eta Aquarids meteor shower — created by debris from the famous Halley’s Comet — making his name feel especially fitting from the very beginning.
Born at Todd Acres on May 6, 2025, Star has spent his entire life surrounded by kindness, children, animals, and daily positive interaction. Curious, friendly, and full of personality, he has already formed a special bond with his best friend and mentor, Dewey the miniature “unicorn.”
As he grows, Star is beginning his journey toward becoming a future therapy and outreach horse, learning how to confidently connect with people while carrying on the calm, gentle spirit that makes Dewey so loved. We are excited to watch Star grow and see the many joyful moments he will help create for others in the years ahead.
Twinkle
Twinkle is a sweet Shetland pony mare whose story is one of patience, healing, and second chances. When she first arrived at Todd Acres, she was underweight, under-socialized, and struggling with severe chronic fecal water syndrome that had left her uncomfortable and unable to move normally. Terrified of baths and human handling, Twinkle needed months of gentle care, consistency, and trust-building. Danielle spent countless days carefully giving her sponge baths and helping her regain both her health and confidence.
Shortly after arriving, it was discovered that Twinkle was also expecting a foal. On May 6, 2025, she welcomed her colt, “Little Star,” into the world.
Today, Twinkle enjoys life with her little pony herd, happily soaking up attention and grooming sessions — something she once feared. She now helps teach children in our horsemanship classes, showing them the importance of patience, kindness, and learning to earn an animal’s trust.
Teddy
Teddy, lovingly known as “Teddy Bear,” is a Shetland pony with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Friendly, curious, and incredibly people-oriented, Teddy is usually the first pony to walk over and say hello to visitors at the farm.
About 10 years ago, Teddy was part of a seizure involving neglected farm animals after property owners were arrested. He was later adopted by an Arabian horse breeder for her granddaughter, who loved showing him in 4-H. As the granddaughter grew older and moved on to larger horses, Teddy no longer quite fit life at the breeding farm. Wanting the best possible future for him, his owner began searching for a home where he could continue being loved and appreciated — which eventually led him to Todd Acres.
Today, Teddy spends his days much like Twinkle: helping with horsemanship classes, interacting with children, and soaking up attention from everyone he meets. Gentle, expressive, and endlessly affectionate, Teddy has become one of the most adored members of the herd.
Bach
Bach is an Appendix horse — a Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred cross — known for his tall build, handsome appearance, and incredibly kind eyes. Athletic and talented, Bach spent many years excelling as a jumper, though these days he enjoys a slightly slower pace of life as he gets older.
He is lovingly owned by Kiana, who is currently attending holistic medical school and hopes to one day integrate equine-assisted work into her future practice. Kiana adores Bach and values the peaceful, relationship-centered environment at Todd Acres.
Gentle, willing, and graceful, Bach continues to be a beautiful presence at the farm and a reminder of the special connection that can exist between horses and people.
Meet the Donkeys
Frodo
Frodo is a donkey with a gentle spirit and a story that reflects just how connected people and animals can become over a lifetime. He came to Todd Acres through Zeb’s Wish Equine Sanctuary, which had originally taken him in from an OHSU research program years earlier. Frodo was later adopted by a wonderful older couple and spent many happy years with them.
As the husband developed severe dementia, his wife made the difficult decision to sell the farm and re-home their beloved animals so she could fully focus on his care. Through a connection with Zeb’s Wish, Danielle was able to welcome both Frodo and his companion Rosie to Todd Acres just a few months after moving to the property.
Frodo has special medical needs, including a history of founder and Cushing’s disease, so he requires thoughtful ongoing care and management. Despite those challenges, he is happy, comfortable, and very loved. His bond with Rosie is incredibly strong, and the two are almost never far apart.
Rosie
Rosie is Frodo’s devoted bonded companion and one of the gentlest souls at Todd Acres. This tiny miniature donkey has a calm, comforting presence that people are instantly drawn to. With her soft eyes, oversized ears, and quiet sweetness, Rosie has a way of making everyone around her slow down and smile.
Together, Rosie and Frodo share an incredibly peaceful energy and are rarely seen apart. Whether they are quietly grazing side by side or greeting visitors at the fence, Rosie’s gentle nature makes her a favorite among guests of all ages.
